Still Alone

Amanda texted Trisha. No response. She was standing outside of Trisha's door to see if Trisha was interested in going out to the cafe. Trisha had texted her the other day that she was supposed to be home the previous night.

Amanda sighed.

"Something's the matter?" Todd's voice startled her.

"Not really," Amanda said after the initial shock wore off. "It's just that Trisha was supposed to be home and I was kind of hoping we would do some catching up. I haven't seen her in a while."

"Oh," Todd responded. He paused for a moment, "She had to pay her rent over the phone because she couldn't be here in time to pay in person like she usually does. Something about having to extend her stay."

Amanda noticed a hint of concern on Todd's face.

"My turn to ask you what's wrong," Amanda said.

"Oh, the repairs aren't going too well," Todd said then he gestured down the hall, "As a matter of fact, I have some complaints to attend to."

Amanda nodded, and Todd continued on his way.

Now, what am I going to do? Amanda thought.

Amanda followed Todd's advice about staying home for a while, but she did it for a different reason. She was concerned about bumping into Brian Lane again. There was something about him that irritated her.
